Foundation for this Study - 9/14/16
By Evangelist Ken McDonald, Th.M.
As I mentioned in the previous article what matters is what the word of God says, not what I, nor any man has to say except when those words line up with the word of God. When I mention the word of God I am referring to the book that I read every day, which is the King James 1611. This article is not a study on bible versions, but if you are interested then get some books by Gail Riplinger, Peter Ruckman, William Grady, Ed Hills, or Doug Stauffer. There is plenty of material available to show the veracity of the King James 1611 as being the inerrant preserved words of God. For these articles the King James 1611 is the final authority. Not me, nor any other man, woman, scientist, school or religion. Since the word of God is preserved for the world in English, then we will stick to the english words. The Greek words are irrelevant.
For example, the average study of Galatians 5:20 ends up going to “the Greek” for the word “Witchcraft.” That Greek word is farmakei÷a. The transliteration of this word is pharmakeia, which is translated as witchcraft, not pharmacy or drugs! The word of God is in English, not Greek! I am a Bible Believer and the word of God is preserved in-errantly in English.
There seems to be a great avoidance of the word witchcraft by “Bible Believers.” Even if they don’t change it outright, they invariably mention that it is a reference to drugs. It’s a strange thing to observe over the years as I have sat in various Sunday Schools and class rooms and listened to Bible Believers as they taught the word of God automatically shift when they come to the word, “witchcraft” and mention it has to do with drugs. Almost always they mention the Greek word Pharmekeia as proof for their statements as to the meaning and explanation of the word.
There is a great big problem with this though and that is drugs or pharmacy are not even close to the same definition as witchcraft! The word of God says witchcraft and it means witchcraft. The problem is that many of the born again saints, whether preachers, teachers, evangelists, or any other saved sinners have a hard time accepting the fact that a Christian can participate in witchcraft.
To that then I ask you, what is witchcraft? Do you even know what witchcraft is? It is a Bible word isn’t it? Then why don’t you know what witchcraft is? Are you afraid of the word? Are you afraid to study and find out what your King James Bible is talking about? Are you afraid that maybe you have been practicing witchcraft?
The word of God has a few words along this line such as Divination, Enchantments, Sorcery, Witch, Familiar spirit, Diana, observer of times, astrologers, stargazers, monthly prognosticators, and wizards. These are all Bible words and if you don’t know what they are then how can you be sure that you have not, or are not getting seduced into committing these acts? Are you afraid of the truth?
Perhaps Romans 16:19b comes to mind; “yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.” But to be “simple” concerning evil does not mean to be ignorant concerning evil. Notice what it says in the book of Proverbs 22:3 “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” Obviously here in Proverbs the simple is ignorant of the evil that is about to take place, but the prudent man recognizes the evil and avoids it. You are to be simple concerning evil but not ignorant of evil, but what does that mean?
What that means is that you are to study from the safety of the King James bible and as you study you are to judge, based upon the word of God. He that is spiritual judgeth all things. 1 Cor. 2:15 To be simple concerning evil is to not partake in the evil.
Years ago there was a preacher who did a slide presentation on rock and roll music. In his presentation he played clips of the music and then preached after each clip. That is not being simple concerning evil. There is enough evidence that rock and roll music is wrong and against God so that you do not have to play it. There is enough evidence that whiskey is wrong and against the word of God that you do not have to drink some to find out.
To be simple concerning evil does not mean to be ignorant. As long as you study with diligent comparison to what God said, then you are safe. When you partake in the evil then you are no longer simple concerning the evil. But if you do not recognize the evil as evil then you will become beguiled, deceived and you will, “pass on, and be punished.”
So as we get into the study of Aromatherapy and the use of essential oils we will do it from the position and perspective of the word of God. We will examine it in light of what the word of God says, but we will not partake or experiment with it. There is no need for that. Psa. 119:130 “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
